The classic tour: 32 tiles round eight countries, for 2 to 4 travelers.
The grand tour: 48 tiles round twelve countries (Italy, India, Australia and Mexico join the trip), for up to 8 travelers, with the Wonder square tucked into the World Cup corner.
Roll two dice and move. Land on an empty city or resort to buy it. Land on someone else's and you pay them rent. Doubles means both dice show the same number, like 3 + 3, and gives you another roll. Three consecutive doubles send you to Customs. Once the Wonder square opens, a roll that takes you past Mumbai lets you pick your way (see below).
Buy a city with buildings in one go, and build it up whenever you land on it again, as many tiers as you can afford in one go (each tier costs more than the last). On your first lap you can build up to apartments; once you've passed Departures, up to a grand hotel. A landmark can only go on a city that's already a grand hotel when you land there. Owning a whole country boosts rent on every city in it: x2 on bare land, x1.5 once it has buildings. Some cities also host a local festival (see below). Resorts get their own miniature when purchased.
After paying rent in a rival city you may buy it out for twice what they've put into it, once you've passed Departures at least once. Landmarks can't be bought out. Wonders can be bought out too, perk and all. The Great Wall makes its owner's properties cost three times what they put in.
Departures pays you every lap; land right on it for a bonus and another roll. Customs: land there (or roll three doubles) and you're held until you roll doubles, pay the fine or use up a passport. World Cup lets you host the cup in one of your cities and boost its rent: x2 for the first World Cup, a little more for each one after, up to x3. Airport: land there and on your next turn you can fly for a small fee instead of rolling, to one of your properties, an unowned one or Departures.
Instantly, by owning three whole countries, all four resorts, or every property on one side of the board. Otherwise be the last traveler standing, or the richest when time runs out. Games last 10, 20 or 30 minutes; when the clock hits zero, the round in progress is played out so everyone gets the same number of turns.
In a 2 vs 2 game, Window seats play Aisle seats.Play 4 vs 4, Window against Aisle with seats alternating, or Pairs: four teams of two (Window, Aisle, Middle and Exit row), partners sitting opposite each other. Team games fill every seat. Teammates stay in each other's cities for free, can fly to them, build on them and host the World Cup in them, and their properties count together for country rent, resorts, Wonders and their perks and instant wins. A team is out when all its travelers are bankrupt. With the turn timer on you get 30 seconds per decision; when it runs out you roll, pass or end your turn automatically.
For the first 10 rounds the square is a building site. Then it opens: a roll that takes you past Mumbai lets you stay on the road or turn off into the square, and every tile you could land on lights up before you pick. The square runs one way, round to Way out and back onto the road at Tokyo, cutting the corner: 10 steps instead of 14. At Way out you can leave or go round once more; the second time, you leave.
Wonders are bought like resorts, and their rent grows with every Wonder you own. One Wonder a visit: buy one and you go straight to Way out, then leave on your next move. The five on the way through each give their owner a perk:
Each game, three cities in different countries host a festival, drawn at random from these five. Festival cities have a coloured ribbon under their name, and their city card says how the festival stands right now. Festivals work for whoever owns the city.
Land on a Postcard tile to draw the top card from the deck. The deck is shuffled again once every card has been drawn. In team games, cards that involve every traveler only touch the other teams.
